Randall Wallace is calling action on a film about legendary racehorse "Secretariat" reports Variety.
The film follows Penny Chenery , a mother and housewife who knew little about horses when she found herself taking over her ailing father's horse farm in Virginia.
Just as Secretariat came along and began to show potential as a champion thoroughbred, Chenery was pressured to sell the farm after her father died the victim of a multimillion-dollar inheritance tax.
She saved both the farm, and watched as Secretariat became the first horse to win the Triple Crown in 25 years, taking the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes in 1973.
Given the history here, I'm surprised it's taken so long to bring this winning tale to the big screen.

It owuld be a nice touch if the film makers could make use of the actual shed where Secretariat was born. It's still standing at "the Meadow" in Virginia.
