Doing promotion for his latest flick "Flash of Genius" (Due October 3rd) directoe Marc Abraham talked about his remake of John Carpenter's 1982 horror classic The Thing.
Abraham tells Latino Review that "This is more of a prequel than a sequel, there is your exclusive. Its going to be taking place in the same time frame."
The original told the spooky tale of a shape-shifting alien that is awakened after being frozen in ice. The alien infiltrates a scientific research station in the Antarctic and kills a Norwegian research team.
A nearby American research team investigates-and is in turn infiltrated by the alien.
"These are the events leading up to the 1982 film."
Building an entire film around the Norwegian research team finding the creature and their subsequent slaughter seems like the only way to keep from treading on what Carpenter did. Still it's gonna be a tricky sell...
