The fact that Hollywood screen legend Julie Andrews has landed a role in the upcoming comedy Tooth Fairy is not a surprise-She is Mary Poppins after all. No, it's the casting news of pro skateboarder Ryan Sheckler, according to The Hollywood Reporter, that has me scratching my head....While I'm sure he's good at what he does on the board--you mean to tell me Sheckler was the best choice for the role? He has a "reality" show called Life of Ryan but has very limited experience on screen outside of that...save for an as yet released flick called Street Dreams which is about-you guessed right skateboarding...
Tooth finds Derek Thompson (Dwayne Johnson), a minor-league hockey player whose nickname is the Tooth Fairy because of his ability to knock out opposing players' teeth. .
When he discourages a youngster's hope, Derek is ordered to one week's hard labor as a real tooth fairy, complete with wings, magic wand and yes tutu.
Sheckler plays arrogant young hockey player Mick Donnelly, who makes a pit stop in the minor leagues before heading to the NHL and sees Derek as a has-been
Andrews meanwhile, plays Lily, a high-ranking, acerbic supervisor with the Tooth Fairy Department charged with overseeing Derek's stint as a tooth fairy.
Ashley Judd is Derek's girlfriend...
Am I making too big of a deal over Sheckler's part-probably--but just because he may be popular with the young (teen girl) demo...remember comedy is hard.
I suppose the same could have been said (and most likely was) about a wrestler nicknamed the Rock having a film resume. And I suppose Ryan needs a career to fall back on once he's done boarding.

I think Ryan Shecklar will be good in a movie. He also is very cute. I loved the life of Ryan show and i wish it was still on! Cant wait to see it.
