IGN recently reported that a 3rd Bat-flick is among four film adaptations that studio suits. wants ASAP Now comes word that the sequel to The Dark Knight could shoot as soon as next year.
According to not one but two obtained by Batman-on-Film.com, behind the scenes sources have told the site that pre-production on the next Bat-film is slated to begin by February in Chicago in time for a summer '09 production start .
BoF:
"... [the] info seems to be originating from folks who worked on [The Dark Knight] in Chicago"
"As far as this buzz coming from former TDK crew members, there's probably something to this as you can't hire these guys at the very last minute. If sets need to be built and other miscellaneous pre-pre production projects need to get done, ... readying these things a year and a half/two years in advance is NOT out of the question."
That said--There are no official reports that Christopher Nolan or his brother.Jonathan Nolan are officially signed for another Batman.
You are talking about rhe follow-up to one of the biggest films of all time...Of course prelim work has begun...DC Comics is picking up the pace to compete with superhero rival Marvel who set forth an ambitious film slate...
