Secretary Pool

Naomi Watts has signed on to star in Clint Eastwood's biopic "J. Edgar" reports Variety.

Watts will play Helen Gandy, J. Edgar Hoover's loyal secretary of 54 years. She was the ultimate keeper of his secrets, and a major behind-the-scenes influence at the FBI

After his death, Gandy spent weeks destroying Hoover's personal files of incriminating evidence which he used to manipulate and control major figures.

Watts takes over for Charlize Theron who was once expected to be in the film before she signed for "Snow White and the Huntsman". Theron is also a likely candidate for Ridley Scott's sci-fi epic "Prometheus".

The cast also includes Leonardo DiCaprio as Hoover himself, Armie Hammer as his alleged lover Clyde Tolson, Josh Lucas as aviator Charles Lindbergh Ken Howard as Attorney General Harlan F. Stone Ed Westwick as the author of Hoover's biography,  Damon Herriman as Bruno Hauptmann and Judi Dench,

Eastwood, Brian Grazer  Ron Howard and Rob Lorenz are producing the biopic.

No production date has been set for the 2012 release
