Academy changes rules for Best Picture and other races

In a highly unexpected move, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has again revised the Best Picture category at the Oscar relays The Hollywood Reporter

However, they’re not returning to five set nominees.



Well, they might be depending on how things unfold throughout the season.

AMPAS has implemented a system where a film must nab at least 5% of the first place votes gets nominated for Best Picture, leaving the field open for anywhere from five to ten nominated features.

Changes were also made to other categories, such as Visual Effects and Animated Feature.
