Artie & Lance Go To WB

Warner Bros.won a major bidding war for the rights to the spec screenplay "Arthur and Lancelot" says Deadline.

The project is described as a modern re-imagining of the King Arthur and Sir Lancelot legendary tales.

Is this a comedy or something more like a hybrid ala Sherlock Holmes

David Dobkin (Shanghai Knights, Wedding Crashers and Fred Claus) will direct from his own screenplay and produce the film wth Lionel Wigram.

The project marks the third film in development at the studio using the Arthurian Legend. The other two include Bryan Singer's remake of "Excalibur" and a Guy Ritchie-directed version by comics author Warren Ellis.

And then there's "Pendragon" which Sylvain White ("The Losers") was slated to helm at a rival studio
