Badgley Sends "Greetings"

Gossip Girl guy Penn Badgley has landed the role of  late singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley in  the real life drama "Greetings From Tim Buckley," says THR

The movie will center on the days leading up to Buckley's 1991 performance at his father's tribute concert.  "Through a romance with a young woman working at the concert, he comes to understand the father who abandoned him. Culminating in a cathartic performance of his father's most famous song, Jeff's debut stuns the audience and launches his career as one of the greatest young musicians of his time."

Buckley Jr. died at the age of 30 in 1997 after he drowned in Tennessee’s Wolf River.

Daniel Algrant wrote amd will direct

Patrick Milling Smith, John N. Hart and Fred Zollo will produce.

Badgley says, "To play a man who was singularly gifted as an artist, greatly misunderstood and mythologized as a human being... It's something very special and sacred. I'm going to give all I can to this project."

"We had been searching well over a year for an actor that can come close to Jeff's spirit while also having the serious musical chops required to authentically tell this story," producer Smith says. "Penn's audition blew us away and we knew we found our star."

The film is scheduled to begin shooting this August in New York City

There is also an as yet Untitled Jeff Buckley Biopic in the works as well that Jake Scott is in line to helm with  Robert Pattinson circling the lead.
