Wolverine Claws Mangold To Helm

James Mangold has won approval by both the studio suits and star Hugh Jackman to direct "The Wolverine" says Deadline

Mangold who worked with Hugh on  "Kate and Leopold" beat out --Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity"), Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day"), Mark Romanek ("Never Let Me Go"), Justin Lin Gavin O'Connor ("Pride and Glory"), José Padilha ("Elite Squad") and short film/commercial director Gary Shore (The Draft) for the gig.

Mangold is usually pretty solid but his last actioner  Knight and Day was dreadful and that's being kind--Ummm Worried for Wolvie?

Darren Aronofsky was locked to take on the assignment but backed out a few months ago....

Christopher McQuarrie wrote the script which is set mostly in Japan and that's based on the great mini-series by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont

The floods and earthquakes earlier this year complicated the production plans therefore no release date has been set.

Shooting aims to kick off this Fall.
