Scott will both direct and produce this new installment which is expected to be set in the same universe as the original Blade Runner The first film was based upon author Philip K. Dick's story Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?.
The deal made in March when Alcon Entertainment won the franchise rights stated they could essentially do what they wanted with the next pic with one exception - they could NOT remake the original.
