Mara Up For Oldboy?

Rooney Mara is said to be the front-runner for the female lead--renamed Marie-in the remake of Chan-wook Park's 2003 cult classic "Old Boy" reports Twitchfilm.

The older film centered on a man kidnapped and held for 15 years in solitary confinement without explanation. He is eventually released and sets out on a path of revenge.

Mark Protosevich wrote the adapted screenplay from which Spike Lee is calling action.

Josh Brolin has already been cast in the lead. While there's no offer on the table yet--I hope Mara opts in for the film. She's a great choice

Christian Bale is condering the villain role, however he won't make a decision until he finishes work on Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

Doug Davison and Roy Lee will produce.

Shooting on the remake is scheduled to kick off in March.
