Tolan Says Rescue Me Baywatch

"Rescue Me" co-creator Peter Tolan went on The Matthew Aaron Show podcast saying that he's just finished writing of the film adaptation of 90's syndicated tv series "Baywatch"

Tolan says his version is “not a parody, it's not based on the show in any way, there are a couple winks to the show but that's about it. It's a whole new idea and new characters.”

He went on to say “It's definitely a comedy, it's not camp, it's just imagining that that is a real thing and that it's a real program.”

Tolan adds that his film is more akin to "Stripes" and actors David Hassehoff and Pamela Anderson have roles written for them

A film based the series has been planned for years first using an action heavy script by David Ronn and Jay Scherick. And then Jeremy Garelick infused his draft with a more comedic tone

The latest script was turned into Paramount Pictures a few days ago and is currently in the pipeline.
