A Prequel Movie Gets A Prequel Comic

The folks at Dark Horse Comics have created an exclusive digital comic that is a prequel to the October 14th remake of "The Thing".

Starting yesterday, the comic will be released in three eight-page installments  September 28 and October 5 and is available FREE online at DigitalDarkHorse.com and via the free mobile app.

"The Thing: The Northman Nightmare" is an origin story set in a frigid Greenland and introduces a group of sientists who find themselves caught in a game of survival when they discover the terrifying creature. The shape-shifting monster has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any living being. It can look just like you or me, but inside, it remains inhuman. And it hides somewhere in a desolate village with few human survivors, among them a strange group of women.

Steve Niles wrote the comic with art by Patric Reynolds and colors by Dave Stewart

As for the new film--It's directed by Matthijs Van Heijningen from a script by Ronald D. Moore and Eric Heisserer and will further explain how the alien was first discovered by a Norwegian research team in the Antarctic-as detailed in John Carpenter's 1982 horror classic itself a remake of 1951's The Thing from Another World .

Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as a PhD candidate who joins the research team after it discovers a spaceship in the ice. When an alien organism escapes and goes on the rampage, she teams up with a blue-collar mercenary helicopter pilot (Joel Edgerton) to stop the creature.

Eric Christian Olsen, Joel Edgerton, Ulrich Thomsen Kim Bubbs Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Dennis Storhøi. co-star
