Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer has stepped in to replace Julia Ormond in the role of Superman’s Kryptonian mother Lara in Zack Snyder's big budget reboot Superman: Man of Steel says Deadline.

There's word as to why Ormond left the project.

Zurer will start filming her scenes this week.

Henry Cavill Michael Shannon Amy Adams Kevin Costner Diane Lane Antje Traue Christopher Meloni Harry Lennix Laurence Fishburne and Russell Crowe co-star.

David S. Goyer wrote the first screenplay draft based on a story he concocted with Christopher Nolan with bro Jonah Nolan taking a crack at the task as well Kurt Johnstad did rewrites

Charles Roven, Emma Thomas Deborah Snyder, and Nolan will be producers on the film.

MOS flies into theaters June 14th 2013.
