Guggenheim Scripts Bad Boys 3

Deadline reports that "Safe House" writer David Guggenheim is in early talks with Sony Pictures to pen the long talked about action sequel Bad Boys 3.

The intent is that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will return to play fast-talking undercover cops and partners Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett.

Michael Bay directed both the 1995 original and the 2003 sequel, both of which were produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

While Bruckheimer is locked, there's no word on Bay's involvement at all at this time.

Guggenheim recently worked for Sony doing a rewrite on the script for the big-budget video game series adaptation "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune"
