Actor-comic Mike Epps is now the front-runner to star as Richard Pryor in Lee Daniels' upcoming biopic about the comedian says Deadline.
The film will span the legendary comedian's life, but focus on his 30s.
Daniels reportedly auditioned the likes of Epps, Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan, Marlon Wayans, and Nick Cannon for the role. Epps Wayans and Eddie Murphy have previously been linked to
the project over the years--when it went by the title Is It Something I Said? but that incarnation
didn't take off.
No final decision had been reached but Epps reportedly delivered a
smashing audition which has put him in front-runner position, however
Wayans is not out of the running.
Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway are being floated about as potential actresses to play Pryor's widow, Jennifer Lee Pryor--who will produce the pic with Harvey Weinstein.
