Dakota Fanning is set to join the long-gestating film adaptation of author Philip Roth's acclaimed novel "American Pastoral" says Screen.
Fanning will play Merry Levov, the daughter of a second-generation
immigrant who shatters the American dream of her parents (Ewan McGregor and Jennifer Connelly) when she blows up a post office in protest
over the Vietnam War.
The Lincoln Lawyer writer John Romano wrote the adapted script for director Phillip Noyce.
Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing the film.
Production is set to begin in Pittsburgh in March.
