Sigourney Weaver has joined the film adaptation of author Patrick Ness' award-winning children's fantasy novel "A Monster Calls" says Heat Vision.
The story follows a young boy who attempts to deal with bullying at
the hands of his classmates, and the terminal illness of his mother
(Felicity Jones), by escaping into a fantastical world through the guidance of a
tree monster (Liam Neeson).
Weaver will play the boy's grandmother.
The young boy role is as yet uncast.
Ness is writing the adapted screenplay for Spanish helmer Juan Antonio Bayona.
Belén Atienza will produce the project.
The film lands in theaters on October 14, 2016.
