British actress Sophie Cookson has joined long-gestating 16th century historical action-adventure “Emperor” says Screen.
Cookson plays a young woman who infiltrates the court of the
embattled Holy Roman Emperor Charles V to avenge the death of her
father.
Paz Vega (“Talk to Her”), Gotz Otto (“Cloud Atlas”) Bill Skarsgård (“Anna Karenina”), Thomas Kretschmann (“Valkyrie”), Oliver Platt Rutger Hauer Sam Louwyck, Michael Pas and Lize Feryn also star.
Michael Thomas and Jeffrey Hatcher wrote the script from which Lee Tamahori will direct.
Paul Breuls, Michael John Fedun and Catherine Vandeleene will produce. Guy Tannahill is exec producing and Richard McCallum serves as co-producer.
Filming begins September 1st in
the Czech Republic and Belgium
