Mommy And Me

The cast of Darren Lynn Bousman's remake of Charles Kaufman's 1980 horror classic "Mother's Day" gets bigger

Shawn Ashmore Matt O'Leary Jaime King Briana Evigan, and Alexa Vega are all in talks to join the cast says The Hollywood Reporter.

The original revolved around three female friends who, while camping, run afoul of two brothers who engage in murder and rape to impress their deranged mother.

Scott Milam wrote the new version where the wicked family returns to the house where they grew up to terrorize the new owners and their guests.

King will play the woman of the house, a wife who has lost her child and is isolating herself from her husband while Ashmore and Evigan will play guests at the house.

Previously announced co-star, Deborah Ann Woll plays the unstable mother and O'Leary one of the deranged sons.

"What we're trying to do is elevate this outside of a genre movie," Bousman said. "I've done three Saw films, I've done Repo, and yes, this is horrific at times, but it's much darker and deeper because of the focus on the characters."

By and large--I hate remakes--yes but I'm actually looking forward to this one...

Filming is scheduled to begin filming next month in Winnipeg.
