One Night Stand

This week the very first footage from James Cameron's eagerly anticipated-sci-fi flick Avatar is set to go public..

"Avatar" centers on a wounded ex-marine (Sam Worthington), who is thrust unwillingly into an effort to settle and exploit an exotic planet rich in bio-diversity, and eventually crosses over to lead the indigenous race in a battle for survival.

The trailer for the film will arrive in theaters of all formats on Friday and online on Thursday night at 7:00 PM (which I will post here as well), while a special 'one night only' event will include an early look at sixteen minutes of footage from the film in more than 100 IMAX 3-D theaters around the world.

In the US The Los Angeles Times states that tickets will be given away a first-come, first-served basis (limited to two per person) on the film's official site at noon US-PST tomorrow.

In other countries like Australia for example, theater chains Greater Union and Hoyts are doing competitions for the tickets.

The film lands in theaters on December 18th 2009.
