Jason Segel is nearly set to star in the comedy "The Adventurer's Handbook." says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story follows four childhood friends who are bored with the monotony of their lives and embark on a global adventure inspired by the stories of explorers detailed in Mick Conefrey's book "The Adventurer's Handbook: Life Lessons From History's Great Explorers."
Segel would play a talented musician who never got his act together, becoming a backup piano player and an alcoholic.
He joins Jonah Hill playing an engineer isolated from his family, and Jason Schwartzman as a spoiled and cowardly three-time Grammy winner.
Hot Rod's Akiva Schaffer will be directing the movie from a script by Hill, Matt Spicer and Max Winkler.
Segel has the best of both worlds--He lands high profile flicks--and a top rated TV sit-com in How I Met Your Mother...
Filming kicks off early next year.
