Becket And Call

Jean Anouilh's award-winning 1960 play Becket ou l'honneur de Dieu is headed to the big screen again says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story centers on Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Becket who ultimately sided with the church over the crown, bringing him into conflict with his friend King Henry II who gave him the position.

Playwright Ranjit Bolt is writing the new screenplay

A previous film adaptation starring Richard Burton and Peter O'Toole in the leads from 1964 garnered 12 Oscar nominations.

John N. Hart, Brian Carmody and Patrick Milling Smith will produce the new version.
