Control Your Anger

Over the weekend a war of words sorta broke out between Marvel and reps for Edward Norton over the decision to not bring back the actor as the The Incredible Hulk in The Avengers movie.

In his initial message studio chief Kevin Feige said: "Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members."

Ouch!

Some 24 hours after confirmed rumors that the studio would be hiring a different actor to play the mean greenie in the superhero team up movie, Norton had an angry message to Feige over the nature of his comments.

Norton's agent Brian Swardstrom, exclusively told HitFix, "We know a lot of fans have voiced their public disappointment with this result, but this is no excuse for Feige's mean spirited, accusatory comments. Counter to what Kevin implies here, Edward was looking forward to the opportunity to work with Joss and the other actors in the Avengers cast, many of whom are personal friends of his. Feige's statement is unprofessional, disingenuous and clearly defamatory. Mr. Norton talent, tireless work ethic and professional integrity deserve more respect, and so do Marvel's fans."

Swardstrom also describes how the parties' did make several attempts to try and make a deal over the last few weeks...

Considering the very public reports of a feud in '08 over TIH--It's my opinion that the studio wanted to probably avoid any chance of it happening again--even remotely

Replacement tak has already begun-- CHUD is, saying that Marvel has already put out an offer to Joaquin Phoenix for the role.

Didn't he retire!!??

The site wasn't able to get confirmation of the rumor. In any case whomever plays the part "will be the lowest man on The Avengers pay totem pole... If Phoenix doesn't take the part, Marvel will quickly go to someone else."

Stay Tuned...

The Avengers is slated to begin filming in early 2011 for a summer 2012 release.
