Jackson Rathbone and Erika Christensen will star in a contemporary, American-set fflm adaptation of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's classic novel The Idiot says Variety.
The original book follows Prince Myshkin, a good and honest man returning home to Russia after a stint in a Swiss sanatorium. He soon finds himself a stranger in a society obsessed with wealth, power, and sexual conquest - an empty society that cannot handle his moral idealism. Throw in a love triangle, some blackmail and a murder...
This adaptation will center on "a man of pure spirit who thinks he can save the world but is caught between a wildly beautiful and fragile woman, a woman he is falling in love with and a friend who is trying to destroy him".
Paul Williams will direct using Jeff Markey's adapted script and Donald Kushner will produce.
