Scribe Evan Daugherty's version of the classic fairy tale expands the role of the Huntsman Ordered to take the evil Queen's (Charlize Theron) stepdaughter Snow White (Kristen Stewart) into the woods and kill her, The Huntsman instead lets her go and becomes something of a mentor who teaches her how to fight and survive.
The studio has been trying to lock down a leading man for months, though the age of their candidates keeps getting younger. Viggo Mortensen (52), Hugh Jackman (42), Joel Edgerton (37) and Tom Hardy (33) have all been offered the role at various points along the way. Each one falling through for his own reason
Casting 27-year-old Hemsworth would no doubt increase the romantic tension with Stewart but would also change the toneof the pic as well
No official offer has been made--though he's the clear front-runner for director Rupert Sanders and producer Joe Roth
Filming looks to kick off in September.
