The pic adapts author Matthew Quick's 2008 book of the same name
The story follows a delusional former high school history teacher who's just been released into the custody of his mom. Believing that he’s only been away for a few months instead of the four years he just spent in a mental institution, the teacher sets about wooing back his ex-wife. but becomes involved with an eccentric neighbor (Jennifer Lawrence) with problems of her own.
Wahberg leaves the project due to a scheduling conflict with Albert Hughes‘ Broken City--after Playbook's start got pushed back to accomodate Jen's work on The Hunger Games
Meantime Cooper's Limitless co-star Robert De Niro is also in talks to join the film.
Production begins this fall
