Dirty Words

Yesterday's news that Dirty Dancing is getting remade and the original film’s choreographer Kenny Ortega (High School Musical, Michael Jackson’s This Is It), will direct has caused quite a stir.

The 1987 original followed a young girl Frances 'Baby' Houseman.(Jennifer Grey) who falls for her dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) in the Catskills.

THR offers a sample of Fan Reaction...And most of it aint pretty

“Remake Dirty Dancing? Do we not remember the eye burning sensation from DD 2: Havana Nights (2004)?” wrote a Twitter user named Levi.

Dirty Dancing remake? Really Hollywood? There is no way to top Swayze! End of story. #uncreativehollywood,” added Kristen.

“Are there no writers left with any original ideas to develop, Hollywood? What’s next, The Godfather trilogy too?” quipped April.

“Lionsgate has announced a ‘Dirty Dancing’ remake. OF COURSE THEY HAVE. DIE INA FIRE, MOVIE INDUSTRY,” said Linda.

The Daily Show writer Rory Albanese  had the best reaction posting: “They should have George Lucas remake ‘Dirty Dancing’, then he can have Greedo be the one to put baby in the corner #WriteANewMovie.”

Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba didn’t appear upset at the idea, but she had a few suggestions for the cast.

“If they do a dirty dancing remake – THEY BETTER USE
DEREK HOUGH There’s no one better for the role!!!”[of Johnny] she said.

Meantime original star Grey tweeted "I love @Kennyortega and trust that he will do something special #DirtyDancingRemake."

Hollywood is gonna remake whatever it wants....That Ship has sailed. Fan outrage doesn't matter...
