With Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 doing boffo Box Office worldwide-director David Yates has decided to take on an another literary challenge for his next gig says Hitfix.
He will indeed direct the big screen version of Stephen King's The Stand
The novel, first published in 1978 and then revised in 1990, tells a story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the American population. The survivors end up fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg.
The nearly 1500 page tale will be told over a three film arc with Steve Kloves, who worked on the Potter serieswith Yates, will team up with him again for the project.
There was that six-hour mini-series adaptation in 1994 while Marvel has recently produced an acclaimed Comic Book adaptation.
King will be involved in some way with the project
Roy Lee will be producing
This is a great idea given the duo's track record on Potter....
