Moore Takes Die Hard 5 As Eisner Eyes Red 2

Deadline reports that John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, Max Payne) has won the derby to helm Die Hard 5.


Originally Noam Murro was to take the helm of the latest John McClane (Bruce Willis) adventure but left to take on 300: Battle of Artemisia instead

Moore was on a short list with Justin Lin, Joe Cornish, and Nicolas Winding Refn.

The script by Skip Woods is said to take place primarily in Russia, where McClane will be joined by his son taking out terrorists at every turn

In another sequel story involving Willis-the as yet Untitled Red Sequel needs a director as well and Deadline also says that Breck Eisner is on the list of possiblie director But points out that the studio is also considering other options.


Jon and Erich Hoeber are writng the screenplay to the follow-up

Red also starred Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban, Mary-Louise Parker and Brian Cox, and made nearly $200 million on a $58 million dollar budget. It it is unclear who will be reprising their roles aside from Willis.

The first film was directed by Robert Schwentke, but he is in Boston doing R.I.P.D. with Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges.

Willis films Die Hard 5 first and then will go directly into production on the Red sequel.
