James Franco has dropped out of the upcoming biopic The Iceman, says JustJared.
Based on the true story of Richard Kuklinski a man who for more than 40 years led a double life as both a professional assassin and a loving husband and father in suburban New Jersey.Kuklinski killed over one hundred people during his life and never felt remorse except for hurting his family. His family and neighbors believed he was an average businessman, having no idea about his deadly alternate life.
Franco was to play his mentor assassin known as Robert “Mr. Softee” Prongue, no word on the reason for his departure
Mickey Rourke Michael Shannon, Ray Liotta and Maggie Gyllenhaal have also been linked to the project.
At first David McKenna ("Blow," "American History X") adapted the script from Philip Carlo book and Anthony Bruno's book now Ariel Vromen who will direct the pic penned a screenplay he co-wrote with with Morgan Land.
Matty Beckerman will produce.
