Universal Pictures has released a statement confirming that the long planned Jurassic Park IV is on hold and is no longer slated for a June 13, 2014 release.
Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow is due to helm--Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) penned the super secret script.
Steven Spielberg, who directed Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park, will executive produce here. Jurassic Park III was brought to the screen by Joe Johnston.
Frank Marshall will produce the dino sequel
Here's the statement:
"In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise. We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history."
This all started--when a digital asset manager and a concept artist sent out tweets—that have since been deleted—about "Jurassic Park 4" being on hold...
Later the delay seemed corroborated by a "Jurassic Park 4" fan site:
"Simply put, the studio doesn't necessarily see eye-to-eye with some of those involved in the film's development and this has lead to some conflict. According to our source, Jurassic Park 4 is still in production, just on a temporary hiatus while there is a "restructuring of the guard", if you will."
Trevorrow was tweeting photos of location scouts as recently as last week--Whatever occured to percipitate the decision from the parties involved.
Stay Tuned...
