Gael Garcia Bernal is set to star in the bio-drama film Rosewater says The Wrap.
The film is based on Maziar Bahari’s memoir titled Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Capacity, and Survival that will tell the story of a journalist (Bernal) assigned to cover the Iranian Presidential elections who ends up in captivity for 118 days.
Jon Stewart co-wrote the adapted script with the memior's co-author Aimee Molloy from which he makes his film directing debut.
Scott Rudin Stewart and Gigi Pritzker are producing the
film.
Stewart will take a 12-week hiatus from hosting The Daily Show in order to work on the film.
Correspondent John Oliver will take over hosting
duties for 8 weeks of that time.
