McG Takes Over "Hunter Killer"

McG is in talks to helm the long-in-development actioner Hunter Killer says Variety.

An adaptation of the novel "Firing Point" by Don Keith and George Wallace the story follows a Navy Seals team in a submarine sent on a mission to Russia to stop a renegade admiral from launching a coup--thus starting World War III.

Antoine Fuqua and Gerard Butler were previously attached to direct and star, but they went on to make Olympus Has Fallen together instead.

Jamie Moss (Street Kings), Arne Schmidt (The Express), and John Kolvenbach wrote the adapted screenplay.

Neil Moritz Toby Jaffe and Ryan Kavanaugh will produce.

McG most recently directed the rom-action com This Means War for Fox and Three Days to Kill which is now in post-production at Relativity Media.
