Webber Sees "The Colour" Through The Camera Lens

Peter Webber ("Emperor," "Girl with a Pearl Earring") will direct an adaptation of author Rose Tremain's novel "The Colour" says THR.


Tremain will write the adapted script which is set during the New Zealand Gold Rushof the 1860s. The story follows newly married immigrants and the husband's widowed mother. Finding life as a small farmer more difficult than he expected, the man sets out to make his fortune and in the process their lives take a disastrous turn.

Ray Marshall and Tim Coddington will produce the film

The movie will be shot on New Zealand’s South Island next year.
