Bernal Skips Stewart's "Rosewater"?

The casting of Gael Garcia Bernal in the bio-drama film Rosewater is in doubt since he is demanding a much bigger payday says THR.

The pic is budgeted at a lean $10 million and is based on Maziar Bahari’s memoir titled Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Capacity, and Survival that will tell the story of a journalist (Bernal) assigned to cover the Iranian Presidential elections who ends up in captivity for 118 days.

Jon Stewart co-wrote the adapted script with the memior's co-author Aimee Molloy from which he makes his film directing debut.

Scott Rudin Stewart and Gigi Pritzker are producing the film.

Time is tight as Stewart is currently on a 12-week hiatus from hosting The Daily Show in order to work on the film.

Correspondent John Oliver will take over hosting duties for 8 weeks of that time
