Chadwick Boseman Has Wise Thoughts In "Gods of Egypt"

Deadline reports that Chadwick Boseman has joined the epic fantasy Gods of Egypt.

The story is set in ancient Egypt. "Game of Thrones" star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau plays Horus, the god of the sky, who teams up with a human thief  (Brenton Thwaites) and Hathor, the goddess of love, on a magical quest to avenge the death of his father, Osiris.

Boseman is set to play the god of wisdom Thoth.

Gerard Butler would play Set (aka. Seth, Sutekh), the god of the desert, storms, and foreigners in ancient Egyptian religion. Set killed his brother Osiris, prompting Set's nephew Horus to seek revenge. Failing in the attempt and being disfigured as a result, it's up to a young human thief in love with a slave to help defeat the mad god. Geoffrey Rush will “play the sun god Ra, the father of Set and Osiris who is also Set’s ultimate target.” Australian newcomer Courtney Eaton (Mad Max: Fury Road) plays a slave girl who catches the eye of Thwaites.

Alex Proyas will call action using a script he wrote with Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama ("Dracula Untold")

Proyas and Basil Iwanyk are producing.

Production begins shortly to meet its release date of February 12, 2016.
