In the film Fiennes plays an agnostic Roman Centurion tasked by Pontius Pilate to investigate rumors of a risen Messiah and locate the missing body of Jesus of Nazareth in order to subdue an uprising in Jerusalem. During high-stakes mission, his doubts of such a supernatural occurrence are challenged as he encounters The 12 Apostles and other historical characters while piecing together the mysterious events that unfolded after The Crucifixion .
Paul Aiello and Kevin Reynolds wrote the screenplay from which Reynolds will direct.
Patrick Aiello is producing the movie. Production begins this month in Malta and Spain. An Easter Weekend of 2015 release is planned
