Ryan Gosling's "Lost River" Skips Theaters Goes VOD & DTD

Collider and Variety are reporting that Ryan Gosling's directorial debut "Lost River" will forgo a theatrical release and instead Warner Bros is  planning a direct-to-disc and VOD release in April.


The film aka How to Catch a Monster.at one point is described as a "modern day fairytale" with suspense and fantasy noir elements weaved in, the story is set in a vanishing city where a single mother of two (Christina Hendricks) is "swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son (Iain De Caestecker) discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town". The pair must solve the mystery if they're all to survive.

Gosling also penned the script.

Doctor Who star Matt Smith is the male lead Eva Mendes plays 'Cat', a prominent figure of the Big Bad Wolf Club. Rob Zabrecky plays a cab driver. Ben Mendelsohn and Saoirse Ronan also star.

Marc Platt Michel Litvak Gosling and David Lancaster produced the film that  had its debut at this year's Cannes Film Festival and was met with mostly negative reviews
