McDonald's Story Gets A Film

THR says that John Lee Hancock ("Saving Mr. Banks") is in negotiations to direct "The Founder," a film about the rise of the largest fast food chain in the world -McDonald's.

Written by Robert Siegel ("Big Fan"), the film follows how Ray Kroc, a salesman from Illinois, met  Mac and Dick McDonal, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers' quick system of making the food and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire.

The tone of the project is said to have that cruel, take no prisoners mentality of the likes of "The Social Network" and "There Will Be Blood".
