Who Will Chart "Ready Player One"?

THR says that Christopher Nolan, Peter Jackson, Robert Zemeckis, Matthew Vaughn and Edgar Wright are all potentials to call action on the video game-themed thriller "Ready Player One".

Based on the novel by author Ernest Cline the story centers on a young teen who escapes into an immersive online virtual world known as Oasis, described as a "social networking utopia that allows its users to lead their dream life." Before the game's creator passes away, he sets up an elaborate treasure hunt where the winner will take control of his company. When Wade enters the contest, he finds himself competing against corporate forces who will stop at nothing to beat him to it.

Zemeckis is reportedly the one the studio wants since the story nods to a bunch of his films--The DeLorean featured in the Back to the Future trilogy has a big role in the story for example.

Cline and Eric Eason previously worked on the adapted script. Zak Penn ("The Incredible Hulk") was brought in to get it into shooting shape

Donald De Line and Dan Farah are producing the film.
