Stephen Norrington will write and direct a reinvention of "The Crow " reports Variety.
James O'Barr's gothic comic book followed musician Eric Draven who is murdered trying to rescue his girlfriend from thugs, and returns from the dead one year later to exact vengeance.
Edward R. Pressman produced the 1994 Alex Proyas-directed adaptation which became more known for the on set death of its star Brandon Lee during production--Several DTV sequels were produced as well.
Proyas' stylized flick will be replaced by a hard-edged, realistic "almost documentary-style" mystery says Norrington.
Comic book adaptations are Norrington's niche with the great Blade and the as equally sub par League of Extraordinary Gentlemen under his belt
