Cavill revealed that he had to put on Christopher Reeves‘ original threads for his audition:
“All I could think was: Oh, God – they’re going to look at me and go, ‘He’s not Superman. Not a chance’. The actor inside me was going: You’re not ready! You’re not ready!”

Cavill recalls a funny story of trying to call his girlfriend and his parents after hearing the news from that he got the part--some two weeks after his audition last October - but no one picked up.
"I was like, 'This is ridiculous! I've just been given the biggest job in history, and nobody's picking up their bloody phones.'"
