Crossing Paths

Tyler Perry will star in "I, Alex Cross", a reboot of the franchise based on James Patterson's Alex Cross novel series reports Deadline.

In the book series, Alex Cross is a forensic psychologist who hunts down killers. Morgan Freeman played the role twice in 1997's Kiss the Girls and 2001's "Along Came a Spider".

Perry is best known for writing and directing his own films, this would mark his first role in a film that he didn't write outside of his cameo in J.J. AbramsStar Trek.

Rob Cohen (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor) will direct the film. Patterson and Kerry Williamson wrote a draft of the script that will be polished by Marc Moss.

Idris Elba ("The Wire," "Rocknrolla")  was originally slated to star in and David Twohy was originally gonna to direct.

What a great casting choice! Perry is one of my heroes in film and I am thrilled by this news Can't wait!!! Soo cool!!
