Abrams Helms Trek's Next Mission

J.J. Abrams has FINALLY signed on to helm the as yet Untitled Star Trek Sequel according to Vulture.

The script will seemingly be completed by month's end and Abrams will probably start shooting the sequel by winter. Pre-production is already happening.

Abrams was always assumed to be directing but he refused to commit to the pic--some would say almost stubbornly--until it was ready for launch..

One reason for the delay has been scribe Alex Kurtzman commitments to his directing debut "Welcome to People.

Now that work on that film is dome Abrams is locked

I ask you why not commit sooner if you knew Kurtzman and Roberto Orci were not going anywhere--What does your writer's work on another film have to with the decision when you've been there from the start of story meetings.

Glad he's on board but I don't understand Abrams' thought process here

The release date for the 'Trek' follow-up will now be next December at the earliest or early Summer 2013.
