Hopkins Will Now Catch Serial Killers Rather Than Be One

Anthony Hopkins is in final talks to star in the long gestating serial killer flick "Solace." reports Variety.

Hopkins would play John Clancy, a former doctor with psychic abilities who is drawn into a serial killer case only to find that the killer is also a psychic, leading to a showdown between the two who can detect each other's every move.

This one has been around for a decade and was even briefly considered as a potential sequel to David Fincher's 1995 hit Se7en if it were reworked. That idea was nixed.

Originally written by Sean Bailey and Ted Griffin, the script got a rewrite by James Vanderbilt and has been since revised by Peter Morgan.

The film doesn't currently have a director attached, although Mark Pellington - whose previous work includes the supernatural mystery 'The Mothman Prophecies' was cirling it at one point.

Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson are producing, while Matthias Emcke and Thomas Augsberger will exec produce.
