Feige On Thor 2, Beyond

Discussing the success of "The Avengers", Marvel suit Kevin Feige, tells Empire (via CBM) that despite his closing credit cameo in the film - don't expect the vile Thanos to be making another appearence any time soon.

Asked whether the character is the big villain in Thor 2 Feige says "No, future, future. But there will be a major new villain. A major, major new antagonist".

The best educated online guess right now is the Enchantress--Although Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) is in talks to join the film as an unspecified villain

Feige says the "Thor" sequel will show different areas of Asgard, not just the palaces of the ruling class - "We’re going to see the other side of Asgard. It’s not all polished and golden in this film. And the events of Avengers will have affected Thor for sure. His relationship with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) will continue to evolve, and the biggest part is Natalie and Thor returning with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman)."

Jaimie Alexander is returning to play Sif and Idris Elba will be reprising the role of Heimdall and Anthony Hopkins will be back a Thor's Poppa

Alan Taylor will direct the sequel that is expected to be on a larger scale than the first film with double the amount of Asgardian characters and the inclusion of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) battling more mythical Norse creatures.

"Saving Private Ryan" scribe Robert Rodat is set to perform a re-write of the sequel. First Thor co-writer Don Payne had written the first draft.

Production kicks off this Summer in London.

Feige isn't letting the success of "The Avengers" be pegged as the endgame for the company - "The Avengers was not the finale for us. It was a giant, giant marker, but it was never the finale. We are already well into the plan for the next phase of our little cinematic universe."
