"The Maze Runner" Gets A Sequel

Deadline reports that Fox has exercised its option to buy "The Scorch Trials," the second book in James Dashner's four-novel series--This despite the fact that the studio pushed back the film adaptation of the first book "The Maze Runner" by seven months.


The young adult dystopian story follows Thomas (Teen Wolf series co-star and NJ native Dylan O'Brien) who awakens with no memory and finds that he is among a community of boys trapped inside an enormous maze. He soon learns they are part of a mysterious test, and finds it is his destiny to join the ‘maze runners’ and lead them to freedom.



 Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Will Poulter and Aml Ameen also star.

 Originally slated for a February 14th 2014 release, Maze will now hit screens September 19th.

In 'Scorch,' the boys have escaped the maze but face an even more treacherous challenge on the open roads of a devastated planet.

T.S. Nowlin will write the adapted story under the supervision of Wes Ball, who directs The Maze Runner.
