Nolan's "Batman Begins" Influences Terminator 5

"Thor: The Dark World" director Alan Taylor won't confirm that he's set to helm the upcoming Terminator 5. On the stump for the November 8th "Thor" sequel he told Slashfilm.

"I'm still officially going to call it a rumor. I'm under the personal policy to say it's a rumor"

That being said had no problem speculating about where this film may go, comparing it to what Christopher Nolan did with "Batman Begins" - rebooting the franchise after the disaster known as Batman & Robin:

"We all love the first two [Terminator films] and I actually went back and watched them again and my respect level only went up. I think there is another famous franchise that had a wonderful beginning and then turned a little bananas. Tim Burton's first Batman is just glorious and by the time it got around to nipples on costumes and all that stuff it sort of lost its way. And for  Nolan to come in an say 'I respect this material so much I'm going to take it up to *here,* that's a great inspiration.' I think any version, whoever is directing Terminator, would be very respectful and serve the first two and probably feel a bit more freedom by the end."

Taylor is said to have beaten out Ang Lee, Rian Johnson and Denis Villeneuve for the gigof director.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is due to return while cohorts Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn have been rumored to be involved as well.

No story details have been offered but we do know that the new pic is the chapter of a stand alone trilogy. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier wrote the script

Megan Ellison's going to produce the film with her brother David Ellison

Production on the project is set to begin in January. A June 26th 2015 release date is targeted
