Tom Hardy Is "The Outsider"

Worldview Entertainment will finance and produce the Japanese crime thriller "The Outsider" says Screen.

The script by Andrew Baldwin follows a POW (Tom Hardy) in Osaka during World War II who stays on after the war. He works his way through the rituals and hardships to become the rare outsider who gains membership in the Yakuza crime unit.

Baldwin penned the script from an idea by John Linson.

John Linson, Art Linson, Christopher Woodrow, Molly Conners, Bill Block are producing.

Production begins early next year in Japan.

The project was previously setup by Joel Silver.

The project will make the rounds at the 2013 American Film Market event in LA
